Description
Very nice and presentable nondate Sub. Winds, sets and runs great. Its cal.1520 movement (serviced last year) is surrounded by parts obtained from around the world. It can be difficult to authenticate a watch part that might be 70 years old. Case is stamped as 5512, but the dial and movement are consistent with ref. 5513. Rolex has always built high quality watches that offered owners a product that embodied the ultimate luxury: reliability. A watch made of well-designed parts with very close tolerances that could be counted on to function in harsh conditions. Tool watches were often used in harsh conditions and as a result suffered damage more frequently than ordinary timepieces. A knowledgeable technician could complete repairs to one reference using parts from a different reference. To satisfy demand for replacement parts, many aftermarket suppliers (not recognized by Rolex) produce good quality substitutes for the hands, crystals, dials and watch cases that become damaged or compromised through time and wear. Please examine the listing’s photos closely and ask all questions before placing a bid. The watch has not been recently polished, and the old leather strap in functional but starting to crack. This bezel does not rotate, the watch has not been pressure tested and should not be considered waterproof until such a test is performed. A vintage Rolex box set is included for the winning bidder. Members without substantial positive feedback might have their bids removed.
